November 2007

January 1, 2008 @ 9:32 pm

Here is our net worth calculation for November. Despite a rocky month in the stock market we managed to increase our net worth,  mostly due to our current focus on saving. I’m extremely proud of how we did this month given that we had to refund the money from the World Series tickets (don’t ask) and all major market indices were down for the month. I did get an extra paycheck in November and an unexpected bonus at work. We had a net worth gain of $1295 or about 1% for the month.

I was a little worried about being able to keep our net worth over six figures this month, but we manged to do it. I’m comfortable that we’ll finish the year over $100,000 which was our main goal for 2007.

Notes:

  1. We stopped sending extra cash in the checking account to the HELOC and instead now put it in savings. This is to ensure we have enough in savings to meet our debt payoff goals for 2008 and take a trip to my brother’s wedding next summer.
  2. The credit accounts consist of a HELOC, a balance on a 0% credit card that ends in March 2008, and the rewards card that most of our monthly spending goes on (which we pay in full every month). Most of the decrease here consists of going back to a “normal” spending pattern for the month.

Goals

Our main goal for next month hasn’t changed: work on building cash and savings up. It’ll be tough going into full on into the Christmas spending season, but our budget for gifts is much smaller this year than normal.
