Consumer Consequences

I played the Consumer Consequences game today.  I was disappointed to learn that it takes 4.1 Earths to sustain my lifestyle if everyone in the world lived like me.  I do well with garbage and recycling but my transportation habits killed me.  What’s really disappointing is that I commute 16 miles round trip to work only 3 days a week.  I work from home the other two days.  The quarterly business trips I need to take are the real killer though.

I encourage everyone to play the game and see how they stack up.  What can we do to lower those scores?

My score was 3.9–but my eating habits is what killed me, surprisingly. I’m not sure why…I said about 35% of my foods are organic or grown locally, and about 20% of my diet comes from meat/fish/chicken…I’m really not sure why that is so much worse than my driving habits and lack of recycling (which I unfortunately don’t do AT ALL). Whatever. Not much I can do about food consumption at this point. I eat everything I can locally/organically.
