The Portfolio Is On Autopilot
Got out of Apple today at $144.00 for a $200 gain before commissions. I then put 10% into IWR, the midcap ETF, and most of the rest into SPY, the S&P 500 tracking ETF. I did make a small tweak to the plan and put 5% into FXE, an ETF used to track the Euro against the US dollar. The dollar is in a freefall against foreign currencies and the Fed action this week should only work to continue it. This position is to take advantage of some of that movement. This one I’ll watch a bit more closely and get out when the trend is broken. It doesn’t look like that will be anytime soon.
Now all I have to do is take a look at things every September and re-balance as needed. I’ve enabled dividend reinvestment on all holdings so they’ll just sit there and grow. Once the debt is paid off (hopefully by the end of 2008), I’ll start looking to add bonds that provide passive income to the taxable part of the portfolio.
It feels good not to worry about one individual stock anymore. Things are really starting to come together.
